My partner Rick called me up one day and said he was at petsmart and wanted to get a bird. I said “A bird?, why do you want a bird? It’s your money.” That’s when the insanity all started!!
Here is our flock. We currently have 13 birds ranging in size from a tiny parrotlet up to a medium sulphur crested cockatoo. Unfortunately, we’ve lost two birds over the years.
This is our first bird Izzy. Izzy is a female green cheek conure that we got in 2011. We initially assumed Izzy was male however, after 8 years, she laid an egg. And then another and another until she had produced 4 eggs total. As I said before, many birds will bond to one person and that’s what happened. Izzy bonded to me after few months. Rick could handle her occasionally but she had a tenancy to bite him for no apparent reason. Things are better now and she’s even gone after me a few times. That beak can draw blood when it wants to.
